Brexit - Domestic Politics Complicate Orderly Transition
With the official end of the two year period for the Article 50 negotiations between the UK and the EU27 on the former’s exit from the EU ending on the 29th of March 2019, there remains a lack of significant clarity over whether the UK’s membership of the EU will cease abruptly (no-deal Brexit) or whether the UK’s membership will be phased out over the course of a transition period that would allow sufficient time for businesses and financial markets to adapt, whilst also giving negotiations ample time to determine the modalities of the UK’s future trading relationship with the European Union.

Tackling Cyber Risks in Treasury

On January 14, 2019, the Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT) alongside the European Association of Corporate Treasurers Cyber Security Working Group hosted an event to discuss current trends in the cyber security space and ways of mitigating cyber risks. The event featured a panel session with a line-up of speakers from companies including the City of London Police, Standard Chartered, Global Cyber Alliance, Steelcase and Barclays.

VDT Treasury Day - Review
A day dedicated to treasury! On 08 November 2018 the German Treasury Association (VDT) invited for the first time to the VDT Treasury-Day. This newly developed format combines the annual general meeting of the VDT with presentations and discussions about current trends or relevant topics in treasury. Some 120 VDT members travelled to Frankfurt to experience this new format in person.

The 35th AFTE annual conference took place in Paris on 13 and 14 November 2018. Read the report on the event - including a "Dealing with a cyberattack" workshop in which Daniel Biarneix, deputy CFO of Compagnie de Saint-Gobain, detailed the NotPetya attack on the company on 28 June 2017.

The 7th CEE Treasury Conference - Video Report
The Budapest Conference of Central and East European Treasurers hosted by the Hungarian Treasury Club for the seventh time took place on 18-20 October 2018. A short video of the event is now available to accompany the article report.
